Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

The Math (themath.net) is an editorial mathematics reference site operated independently. For privacy enquiries: contact via the contact page.

2. Data we collect

Contact and form submissions. When you submit the contact form, tutor-matching form, newsletter form, or audit enquiry, we collect the fields you complete (name, email, message, and any topic/level fields). This data is stored to process your request and is not sold.

Server logs. Our web server records standard access logs (IP address, user agent, page requested, timestamp). Logs are retained for 30 days and used only for security and performance monitoring.

No tracking pixels or ad cookies. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any behavioural advertising cookie. We do not build user profiles.

3. How we use data

• Form submissions: to respond to your enquiry or fulfil the requested service (newsletter, audit, tutor match).
• Server logs: to detect and prevent abuse; not used for marketing.
• Newsletter subscriptions: to send one monthly email. You may unsubscribe at any time via the link in each email.

4. Third-party services

Gumroad. Digital products link to Gumroad. Purchases are processed by Gumroad under their own privacy policy. We receive a sale notification but not your full payment details.

Amazon Associates. Some pages link to Amazon via the Associates programme. Amazon may set cookies when you follow those links, governed by Amazon's privacy policy. We receive a referral commission if you purchase.

Google Fonts. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts CDN. Google may log your IP address when serving font files. See Google's privacy policy.

5. Data retention and deletion

Form submission data is retained for 12 months. Newsletter subscriber records are retained until you unsubscribe. To request deletion of any data we hold about you, contact us via the contact page with the subject “Data deletion request”. We will respond within 30 days.

6. Cookies

This site does not set first-party cookies. Third-party cookies may be set by Google Fonts or Amazon Associates as described in section 4. You can block these via your browser's cookie settings.

7. Children

This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal data to us, contact us for immediate deletion.

8. Changes to this policy

Material changes to this policy will be indicated by an updated “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance.
