Corrections Policy
Mathematics is exact. We take content errors seriously and correct them promptly.
Our corrections standard
A mathematical error is any of the following:
- An incorrect worked step in a solution
- A wrong numerical answer
- A misapplied theorem or rule
- A pitfall described incorrectly (e.g. the error described is not actually common, or the correction given is itself wrong)
- An exam-style question that does not match the cited specification
We distinguish mathematical errors from editorial choices. We will not change a correct solution because you prefer a different method, and we will not change a pitfall description because you do not recognise it from your experience. But we will correct any factual or computational error promptly.
Process
- Submit: Use the form on this page or the contact page. Include the URL of the page, the specific error, and what you believe the correct version to be.
- Review: Dr. Iris Vaughan reviews all correction submissions. She verifies against at least two independent references (standard textbooks or examination board mark schemes).
- Resolution: If the error is confirmed, the page is corrected within 5 business days. If the submission is not confirmed as an error, we will reply explaining why.
- Acknowledgement: We acknowledge confirmed corrections in the page's revision note (visible to screen readers and AI crawlers via meta). We do not publish a public corrections log but will acknowledge you by name if you request it.
